Harold W. Spence
Harold W. Spence is a partner with the Davis Bozeman Law Firm. He is dedicated to providing legal services to families and individuals who have experienced serious injury, death, or a significant violation of their civil or human rights due to the misconduct of individuals and/or corporate entities.
For more than twenty-five years Harold has been immersed in the field of personal injury law. Harold handles a variety of cases including, but not limited to, trucking and auto accidents, wrongful death, business torts, and premises liability. Harold is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Harold has two notable, recent Georgia Court of Appeals victories that significantly benefit plaintiffs in personal injury cases: Georgia DOT v. Griggs (ante litem notice that results in an offer from the governmental entity is deemed sufficient as a matter of law) and Reed v. Carolina Casualty Insurance Company, et al (whether decedent’s intoxication was sole proximate cause of tractor-trailer collision is for jury to determine, not for trial court to determine on summary judgment).
Harold is a magna cum laude graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While in college, Harold served as Student Government Association Vice-President and President. Harold received his juris doctor degree from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. While in law school, Harold served as President of the Black Law Students Association.
Harold is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and is the oldest of six children, all of whom are college graduates.
Harold’s wife, Dr. Cynthia Neal Spence, is a professor at Spelman College in Atlanta. They have been married since 1980 and have two daughters, Christie (Ph.D.) and Courtnee (MBA). In his spare time, Harold enjoys reading, sports, music, playing the guitar, and crossword puzzles. Harold is also a longtime member and trustee at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
